 Shannon – Registered Dental Hygienist

Hi, my name is Shannon. My love of dentistry didn’t come naturally. My family didn’t go to the dentist growing up. My Dad had all of his teeth pulled before I was even born, and we just assumed my mom had bad breath because she was Type 1 diabetic.

At only 19 years old, I got my first dental infection and I found myself in horrible pain and having to decide between losing my tooth and trying to save it by paying for a crown and root canal. I knew I didn’t want to lose the tooth, so I invested all I had to do the treatment. The experience made me want to save others from ending up in similar situations.

I started working as a dental assistant in 2003 and learned the importance of a healthy,  well-functioning mouth, along with the negative impacts of an unhealthy one.

I wanted to further my role as a dental advocate, so I returned to school and got my dental hygiene license.

My main goal as a hygienist is to provide a comfortable and nonjudgemental environment with a focus on prevention. I believe I can truly impact my patients’ lives by educating them and giving them tips on what they can do for themselves to become or stay healthy.

When I am not in the office, you will find me landscaping, painting or crafting, spending time with my wife and friends, or hanging out with my pet chickens.
