Meet Dr. Patel
Dr. Hema Patel graduated from Loma Linda University, California, and has been in practice since 2003. She was born in India but grew up in Kenya. Having lived in small and rural towns most of her childhood, she recalls that her parents made great efforts to take her and her sisters to the dentist in bigger cities so that they could have the preventive dental care that her parents did not get and had suffered for the lack of it. This has shaped her passion for teaching children, their families, and patients of all ages, the importance of good oral health as an integral part of a person’s overall health. Dr. Patel makes a great effort to get to know the person sitting in her chair and not just their teeth, as a happy patient is a healthy patient.Dr. Patel is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association. She organizes the yearly Give Kids A Smile event by teaming up with staff, other colleagues and friends, and family that provides free dental care for uninsured children in the area. She currently lives in Poolesville and has a son and daughter that take her on adventures in life every single day!
